And no, this wasn't posed. This is how I found her.

Let There Be Light!
Usually when you plug in the string of lights to the Christmas tree, a magical thing happens. Light from top to bottom and it's beautiful. Hunter looks forward to plugging in the tree every single night. I think he is going to be so sad the day we have to take the tree down.
Tonight, was normal as always. We got home from the Y, Hunter ran outside to plug in the lights out there and flipped the switch for the icicle lights. Next, the tree. He plugged in the cord and what is usually voila! it was nothing. He tried again. Nothing. Tears started to flow. I was confused. I went to check it out.
Sweet. The cat chewed the cord. Seriously, Lucky? I'm not impressed. 1. Now we have no lights. Until tomorrow. I will go to Target, get another string and take off the bottom string and bottom ornaments and put on the new string and redecorate the bottom of the tree. Kind of a minor inconvenience. 2. That magic of Christmas is gone for tonight. Ok, not really, but it seems dark in our house. 3. What if a fire would have started? I don't know if that's possible, but what if. 4. I kind of am impressed that she was able to chew thru the cord.
So for tonight, we have no lights. But hopefully by tomorrow, we will be back in business.

The Great Escaper
This is Lucky. She is our cat who waits by the door and will sneak out any chance she gets. She will race over to the door if she is lying on the couch and hears Hunter coming up the steps just so she can try to escape to the great outdoors. Today it was really bad. She got out at least three different times from Hunter going in and out constantly to get water, go to the bathroom, get a toy...you get the point. And the last time she ran. She was out for about an hour and we couldn't find her (Ok, I really didn't try too hard because I knew she'd come back eventually. And I was sick of chasing her around or waiting by the culvert until she came out.). We had to go to town because we had other commitments and there was no way we were going to find her. She wasn't in the culvert or the garage or under the neighbors car. And, we were already late.
So, we left the garage door open a little bit and drove off with a little boy who was extremely worried he had lost the cat forever. I reassured him that she wasn't gone, she was just playing somewhere.
After being gone for 3.5 hours, Brody and I came home (Hunter went to the races tonight) and Lucky shot across the road from the neighbors house. She was being chased by their cat-serves her right. I pushed the garage door opener, but to my luck it started going down. Lucky bolted off in the opposite direction and was off again.
We pulled into the garage, I got out, talked to the neighbor and she said that Lucky had been there all evening but just didn't know where she belonged. I told her that Lucky is an indoor cat, but has been very sneaky lately. I raced over to the other neighbors and Lucky was under their car. I couldn't reach her. I quickly went back to the car to get Brody out and set him down.
To my luck he raced to the back yard so I had to chase him down. I caught up to him and then we called Lucky and she finally went into the house. Phew! Brody and I went back to the car to get my purse out but I couldn't carry everything. So I set Brody down and he took off running again...ahhh!! I quickly grabbed what I needed, threw my purse towards the door leading to the house and ran to catch him...again.
I am sure the neighbors were very entertained as they sat out on their front porch. If anybody wants a cat, they can have Lucky. Ok, not really. We would miss her too much. But I would love any ideas from people who may have a solution to our cat who stalks the door in hopes of going outside. I am tired of looking like an idiot running around our yard and the neighbors yards chasing that darn cat.

Lucky's New Home
In May, we adopted our cat, Lucky, from the Humane Society. She is pretty much the best cat ever and tolerates the boys. Brody will practically tackle her thinking he's giving her a hug. And petting her is usually patting her. Hunter on the other hand will find a string of any sort and try to lasso her or make her a leash. He tells me that she really wants to go for a walk. For some reason, I have a hunch that she doesn't really want to.
The other day, Hunter was in the bathroom playing with water. He loves the sink...I will make another post about that :). I went to check on him to make sure that the bathroom wasn't getting flooded (Hunter's dream-more on that in another post). Fortunately it wasn't, but I did hear a faint meow come from somewhere. Immediately I questioned Hunter where Lucky was. He had the look of guilt written all over his face. Oh no, I thought. He proceeded to tell me that he made Lucky a new home and she really liked it. This is not the first time he has made Lucky a home. He will put a rug over a stool in hopes that she'll like it. He has written her name on cardboard boxes in hopes that she'll like it. But this time, I think he found one that she actually will like!
He then opened the closet and to my surprise I found Lucky curled up on a blanket purring away. She actually did like it. She found a nice soft spot where the boys wouldn't get her. However, I had to tell Hunter that even though it is a nice and comfy spot, she couldn't stay there. Disappointment was written across his face. But, I then explained that she didn't have her food or water or litter box. He was ok with that.
Lucky is not a fan of pictures.
Proud of his new home for Lucky. But with a slight look of I probably shouldn't have done this without asking my mom.
